The semester is now over and I've already started working. I had to do a couple of paintings for my Color&Design class, one mandala and one final project. Worst part about gouache paintings is that the colors get so botched when transferred to digital media.
My mandala project was inspired by the myth of Fenrisulfur. Here it is non-matted (the matted version can be seen on my website). For my final project, I decided to do some 'concept' work from a story of mine. The tribal bunny style has been changing rapidly, and these characters are only work in progress. The final designs are very different from these. However, it was fun and a pain in the ass to paint. I love gouache painting, it's just the color mixing that takes such a long time (for me at least).

I love the mandala! :) The design's both simple and complex. Do the runes spell out anything or are they mainly for decorative purposes? ;)
And the concept work looks like a movie still! :D The tiger looks quite TLK-ish to me, though, I don't know if you were aiming for that. ;) It's hard to say something about the background since the pics are so tiny, but I very much like what I see there, especially the lighting!
(This is Zazunica., of course. :) )
Thanks! And yes the runes actually do spell out something; It's a warning/narrative written in ancient Icelandic (or at least my attempt at it XD)
The concept work was so much fun, and no the tiger is simply still going through a lot of character designing, so this design is far off the finished mark. But I didn't get a lot of time to do the final project so I had to move fast :P
I didn't realise that the links to the images didn't work, but it's fixed now =) *hugs*
They both look wonderful! The concept work strikes a nice chord with me and looks really terrific.
Gouache has a great look to it, and out of all of my friends, I only know one who has ever done much work in gouache (and even he has not done any recently). I think it's a great aesthetic that I wish more people would avail themselves of, even if it can be a pain!
